Mike talks about a topic near and dear to him: marketing yourself!

It’s uncomfortable, but getting our in front of the right people is essential to being able to grow your business – no matter what you are looking to do.

Mike talks about how he got his start in the note business, participating on a call with other note investors. After some time getting to know everyone, he noticed something major. These people, who were very successful in their other fields, were not willing to put themselves ‘out there’ in the note space.

He decided to take action. For Mike, that meant creating another group where people could communicate on any topic he wanted. The blog version didn’t take off, but a weekly group call formed and grew. Taking the chance to self-promote lead to a massive deal getting taken down by a group of investors who trusted each other.

Let’s pick on Tom Nardone for a minute. His medium of choice to promote himself is his YouTube channel, Millionaire Mailman. He uses it to showcase his project and have a portfolio so to speak for future partners. It’s spreading organically, through shares and emails that he sends, but the goal isn’t to make money from these channels but to get in front of the right people. It’s the exposure that you’re looking for.

It doesn’t have to be YouTube, but it should be something. A huge and popular one to use, typically in tandem with another channel, is email newsletters. There are many options for third party software out there, so take a look around and see which ones have the features you want. Most all of them will have analytics to help you track your opens, link clicks, spam reports, etc. These programs are called CRMs – Customer Relationship Managers. Some popular ones are ActiveCampaign, Get Response, AWeber, and Fluent CRM.

Mike at this point in time uses Active Campaign currently on his NoteConference site, and gives a quick walk-through of his most used features.

The floor is then opened up to the group to share their goals. Jeff jumps in with his goal of ‘financial freedom’ and dives deeper with Mike on how to achieve that via the note business.
